Uganda Trip - Uganda's Hidden Treasures
Itinerary
Arrival in Uganda
Upon your arrival at the airport in Entebbe, you will be warmly welcomed and driven to your hotel, where you can relax from your long journey.
Kidepo Valley National Park
By plane today we will go to Kidepo Valley National Park, in the very north of the country. In this remote national park, which covers an area of 1441 km², one can still experience the original wilderness and beauty of the African continent. Fertile valleys interrupt the tree and bush savannah and create an optimal habitat for a unique flora and fauna. Experience this breathtaking landscape on game drives through the savannah and, with a little luck, observe lions, elephants and buffalo.
If you are in the mood for some culture you can visit the pastoralist people of the Karamojong. This semi-nomadic people have been living in the region around the national park for thousands of years. With the help of your guide you will get an insight into the customs and daily life of this fascinating indigenous tribe.
Murchison Falls National Park
This park also impresses with an incredible variety of flora and fauna. The northern steppe is home to lions, giraffes and elephants. In other parts of the park, however, swamps, dry forests and fertile valleys can be found. In the centre are the Murchison Falls, which gave the park its name. Here the Victoria Nile plunges over steep cliffs to a breathtaking depth of 43 meters.
Also, part of the park is the Budongo Forest. Here is a population of wild chimpanzees. Observe the primates in the trees and let yourself be enchanted by the magical atmosphere of the forest. Listen to the cries of tropical birds and, with a little luck, discover one of the many butterfly species that call this place home.
Semliki Wildlife Reserve
Today you will fly to Semliki Wildlife Reserve. Thanks to its proximity to Lake Albert, you will find lush vegetation of palm forests, green hills and lush grasslands.
Take a walk with a well-trained guide to observe some of the wild primate species that call this nature reserve home.
On a boat trip on Lake Albert, embark on a very special adventure: searching for the shoebill bird. This African pelican bird owes its name to its wide, seemingly much too-large beak, which is also considered its most important feature. It is very shy, usually hiding in the high reeds and can only be spotted with a little patience. Lake Albert, with its many marshes, represents the ideal habitat for this special bird.
Bwindi National Park
Upon arrival in southern Uganda, take a boat ride across Lake Mutanda. Admire the fantastic view of the volcanic mountains on the horizon. During this trip you will have the opportunity to observe the vegetation and the inhabitants of the many islands in the lake up close and be enchanted by one of the most beautiful places in the country. In the afternoon, a hike through the Buniga Forest and a visit to the Batwa tribe are on the agenda.
The next day the largest apes in the world, the gorillas, are waiting for you. Found in the mountains around Lake Mutanda, the mountain gorillas are majestic animals that can only be seen in the wild in a few other places. An experienced tracker will track the animals in the forest and ensure that both you and the animals are safe at all times. It is a unique and unforgettable experience to observe these beautiful animals in the wild.
Homeward journey
Today it is time to say goodbye. After more than a week of adventure in Uganda, which gave you rich impression of one of the most beautiful countries in the world, it is now back to the airport of Entebbe and from here back home.
